Membership
Membership is open to any employee of a Florida Credit Union League member credit union.
Membership Benefits
Council Meetings
As evidenced by growing attendance at national meetings of all sorts, gathering information first-hand, getting “recharged” and inspired by fellow professionals and acquiring knowledge from top quality presenters is a preferred model of learning. Unfortunately, time and budget do not always allow 3-4 days out of the office and once yearly learning can be forgotten unless supplemented by shorter term lessons.
The Council meetings provide members with the opportunity to attend a quality presentation and networking meeting, often within a few hours drive of the credit union. Typically occurring three times a year, the meetings provide a good supplement to the weightier yearly meetings offered by other organizations. Topics are geared towards specific issues relating to each profession and the roundtable at the end of the day helps members tie up any loose ends.

Network with Peers
The openness and willingness of credit unions to collaborate and provide peer support is a hallmark of the credit union movement. People often say it is the key differentiator between credit unions and banks. The power of many people coming together for a common cause cannot be underestimated and participants derive a huge individual benefit for their credit unions.
The Leadership Councils of Florida provide multiple opportunities to network through the semi-annual meetings, the Council Forum and the Knowledgebase. With the Florida Credit Union League as a common bond, members of the Councils have many additional opportunities through League-related activities to build and maintain their relationships.
Share Best Practices
As not-for-profit financial institutions, credit unions are multifaceted organizations. Whether in lending, operations, sales, Human Resources or investments, executives must have a detailed knowledge of their own areas of discipline as well as a working knowledge of the other areas listed. The rapidly changing world in which we live makes it increasingly difficult to keep up with the changes and stay ahead of the competition.
The Leadership Councils of Florida provide members with access to a group of peers who are undergoing similar challenges. Roundtable discussions at the council meetings and the Council Forum allow both in-person and online discussions of relevant issues.
Online Council Forum
Being able to tap the knowledge of fellow professionals at any time is one of the many benefits of an online forum. Having the ability to poll professionals throughout the state of Florida increases the chances that someone else has had a similar issue at some point and found a solution.
The online Council Forums are organized by topic for easy readability and data retrieval. Council members are allowed to post unlimited entries to the forum and solicit feedback from their peers. These forums are specific to each council to encourage open discussion and debate.
Online Knowledgebase
In today’s world, people have come to expect immediate answers to the toughest questions. The growing popularity of Google®, Wickepedia® and a host of online chat rooms shows how important this has become. With the unique aspects of credit unions, it can be difficult to locate the right information in a timely fashion even with the latest resources.
The Leadership Council of Florida website will provide you with a Wickepedia® style database that is easily searchable and can be edited by council members. Entries can be made quickly and easily, information can be corrected and new information added as soon as it becomes available. Best of all, members have ownership and can use this as a knowledge resource for years to come. The Knowledgebase is available to any member of any Leadership Council of Florida to provide the opportunity for cross-referencing.
