Award programs are in place to honor professionals, volunteers, and credit unions for excellence in leadership and service. Awards include the Louise Herring Award, the Dora Maxwell Award, the Professional of the Year Award, and the Volunteer of the Year Award.

The Professional of the Year Award annually recognizes the Florida credit union professional that deserves recognition for their contributions to advance the credit union movement in both Florida and the nation. Winners of this award will be recognized for their lifetime achievements and efforts to help craft an environment that allows credit unions to grow and prosper in order to better serve their members.
Individuals who have a record of productive service to their Credit Union, the Florida Credit Union League, FCUL Service Group, Chapters, Credit Union National Association or service to the credit union movement of special Florida significance are eligible.
The Volunteer of the Year Award annually recognizes the Florida credit union volunteer who has selflessly contributed time, effort, and talent to the development of the credit union movement in Florida. Volunteers are an integral part of the credit union structure and their contributions deserve recognition. Their contributions resonate throughout the credit union community by illuminating the most important part of the credit union structure.
In addition to volunteer service at the individual credit union(s), nominees should have a record of involvement at the chapter level. State and national levels of involvement are also encouraged and highly looked upon.
Both the recipient of the Professional of the Year Award and the Volunteer of the Year Award will automatically be inducted to the FCUL Hall of Fame in the year the award is received.
All nominations must be submitted to the League office by May 19, 2008 and will be recognized at the 2008 FCUL Annual Convention & Expo. Click here to download the nomination application for Professional of the Year and Volunteer of the Year.

| Guy Hood, FCUL President/CEO, presents Paula VanHorn the Volunteer of the Year Award at FCUL’s 2007 Annual Convention. |
The 2007 Volunteer of the Year Award went to Paula VanHorn of Metro North FCU. VanHorn began her career in 1957 at Eastport Employee Federal Credit Union, now known as Metro North FCU in Jacksonville. Click here to read about Paula's more than 50 years of service to the credit union movement.
These two programs identify credit unions that demonstrate the credit union "People-Helping-People" philosophy. The Dora Maxwell Award program honors the work of credit unions in the community and the Louise Herring Award program recognizes the practical application of credit union philosophy in daily internal operations.
State winners in the two programs will advance to national competition for judging. All state entries must be submitted to the League office by May 12, 2008. State winners will be recognized at the FCUL Annual Convention & Expo in June. FCUL strongly encourages you to enter any or all of these programs. These programs are an excellent way for your credit union to be honored for its efforts and serve as an example for others to follow.
